We are a registered New Zealand charity that seeks to engage Aotearoa New Zealand in a conversation about identity and history in order to help people know the story they are a part of.
We do this by connecting communities through haerenga, story and service. Karuwhā Trust facilitates haerenga (journeys) to significant sites across Aotearoa New Zealand in relationship with tangata whenua and assisted by qualified historical narrators. These places include Waitangi (over Waitangi Day commemorations), East Coast, Tauranga Moana, Taranaki, Rēkohu (Chatham Islands) and Waikato/New Zealand War sites.
We research important and less-well-known stories about our shared past. We seek to make the best research available through this website.
